India’s animation scene just levelled up. A global team of creators, including artists behind Arcane, is reimagining Baahubali as a stunning CG epic.

Move over, multiverse - the Baahubali universe is about to explode in a whole new medium. Baahubali: The Eternal War, a high-end animated film based on S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster saga, is in the works, and it’s already creating a massive buzz across the design and animation community.

The project is a true global collaboration between India’s Arka Media Works, the UK’s Aniventure, Scotland’s Zaratan, and France’s Alcyde, bringing together some serious creative firepower. But here’s the real jaw-dropper: former artists from Netflix’s Arcane - yes, the Emmy-winning League of Legends series are helping bring the world of Mahishmati to life in rich, stylised CG.

Directed by Ishan Shukla (who worked on Star Wars: Visions – The Bandits of Golak) and written by Scott Mosier (Clerks, The Grinch), this two-part saga promises an all-new story set after the events of the original films. Expect world-building that’s massive in scale, fourteen realms of gods, warriors, and ancient mysticism, all crafted with a meticulous design language and cinematic artistry.

For Indian animation, this project feels like a milestone - blending homegrown storytelling with global visual craft. The look of The Eternal War already hints at a painterly, high-contrast aesthetic reminiscent of Arcane, but rooted in Indian mythology and design. It’s ambitious, visually rich, and unapologetically epic.

The project is planned as a two-part saga, with Baahubali: The Eternal War – Part 1 slated for release in 2027.

We’re calling it - this could be a defining moment for Indian animation on the global stage. 🌍
