Inspiring women of colour to embrace their authentic self, Darshini’s artworks speak to many women worldwide. “Growing up, I was always surrounded by strong and dynamic women; it’s something I’m blessed with even today; hence, it plays a role in what I create. I am in constant awe of how resilient and multidimensional women are, amongst so many other things,” explained the artist.

Her intricate and delicately detailed works usually begin as an abstract idea and gradually take form as a watercolour painting or a coloured pencil piece. “The idea of visually telling a story excites me. I’m usually inspired by interpretations of what I see, experience and the communities I am part of. I’d say my muse is someone who has a strong and unique sense of self and exploration,” Darshini elucidated
