Making sure the candidate is culturally fit, the first thing that Visakh and his team seek out in an intern is their attitude. They have accepted the fact that they cannot expect a fresher to be highly skilled and so, not too much importance is given to the skills. They feel that skills can be taught easily, but attitude cannot.

Giving preference to candidates who have interned elsewhere, they keep in mind the education stats of the candidate and if they make a good fit for them in terms of speaking their language. They want candidates who keep up with the trends, in terms of what’s happening in the industry or following some known studios, developers, designers, brands etc.

When it comes to looking out for hiring fresh talent, Visakh strongly believes that if a fresher is not hungry to find a job, then they might as well not go after them. Addressing all applications hitting their website, they sometimes do approach training institutions and universities when hiring freshers in bulk.

Hiring isn’t That Difficult, if Done Rightly!

Knowing how to hire is an art itself. The website serving as the primary source for them, they keep an eye on all the applications and whenever there is a good resource, he or she is hired immediately.

With each passing year, the quality of freshers are improving, thanks to the revamped education system, internet and the other resources available to them. They have a lot of zeal, enthusiasm and fire in them. If this energy is channelised in the right way; they’ll definitely make some future leaders. Companies need a mix of experienced and fresh work force to keep their overheads under control. In fact, few of Visakh’s teams leads are people who joined them as freshers!

Making the Right Choices!

For the hiring team, it’s all about the expectation level. One has to be ready to put in some effort to train them and bring them to speed. Few are extremely smart and pick up fast and few are a little slow, but if they are ready to put in extra hours and work really hard they will get there.

One advice that Visakh would like to give to all the freshers out there is, “Don’t look for immediate compensation or a big brand; look for a good boss who can show you the bigger picture and push you in the right direction. What makes you comfortable today won’t take you anywhere. Be uncomfortable, challenge yourself into bigger things every day; success will follow”
