In a move that signals a major shift in the creative software landscape, Maxon has announced a series of updates aimed at making professional tools more accessible, flexible, and creator-friendly. From free software offerings to mobile-first workflows, the company is clearly aligning itself with the evolving needs of modern designers and motion artists.

Free Tools Return to the Spotlight

One of the biggest announcements is the return of Autograph, a motion graphics and compositing tool, now available free for individual users. Designed for motion designers and visual artists, Autograph combines 2D animation, compositing, and 3D workflows in a single environment, offering a powerful yet accessible entry point for creators.

With features like responsive design workflows and a native system for building complex motion graphics, the tool is positioned as a serious alternative for those looking to experiment or produce professional work without heavy software costs.

Cinema 4D Goes Mobile

Maxon is also bringing its flagship 3D software, Cinema 4D, to the iPad - marking a significant step toward mobile-first creativity. The upcoming version is being designed specifically for touch-based workflows, allowing designers to model, design, and explore ideas on the go.

While the desktop version will still handle heavy production tasks, the iPad release (expected later in 2026) opens up new possibilities for sketching ideas, prototyping, and flexible workflows beyond the studio.

ZBrush and the Ecosystem Expand Further

Maxon is also extending its ecosystem by making tools like ZBrush, Cinema 4D, and Red Giant compatible with Windows on Arm devices, including tablets and next-gen portable systems.

This move reflects a larger industry trend: creators are no longer tied to high-end desktops. Instead, they’re looking for tools that adapt to hybrid, mobile, and cross-device workflows.
