Unveiling The Hidden Story

Arpitha Gujjar talks to us about the hidden stories she unveils through her art.

How often have you looked at a photograph and wondered if there is a hidden story to it? Arpitha Gujjar creates art through which she unveils these hidden stories. She narrates her perception through her art, a story that is a contrast to the actual subject of the image. For example, she takes a photograph of a regular sari-clad woman and creates a flower that radiates out of her – to reveal the blooming personality of regular humans. To unveil these hidden stories Arpitha uses a line doodling style that gives her work a dreamy vibe.

However, apart from the doodle art theme, Arpitha also enjoys creating caricatures, illustrations, current affairs and tributes.

To create her work, Arpitha usually uses Procreate. However, she also uses other software like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and CorelDraw to enhance the effect of art.

Arpitha has a thinking routine that helps in her work. She starts by searching for images, and after finding the right one she spends a couple of minutes trying to imagine a story. Soon she figures out her story and starts creating her art.

'Learn More, Do More' is the motto Arpitha lives by in her profession. Having started as a jewellery designer, she later explored and expanded her skills to work in wider creative spaces. She constantly looks out for more things that could add value to her art.

All her creative work means a lot to her; however, her Children’s Day artwork was something that moved her.
