Let’s start with a fun one - when people land on Moyyco, they see this burst of playful energy. But if we flipped back to your very first sketchbook, what would we find there?
To be honest, I’ve never been much of a sketchbook person, which might sound odd coming from an artist. Since I’m self-taught, I’ve always been more comfortable sketching digitally. My sketchbook is more of a playground for rough thoughts, bits of character ideas, abstract shapes, and quick typography explorations, basically a glimpse into my messy but curious creative process.
What’s the story behind Moyyco - how did it go from just an idea to becoming your creative identity?
When I started freelancing, someone suggested that I build a brand instead of working as an individual, and I thought that was a pretty cool idea. I began exploring names for my future brand, starting with “Moy,” which comes from the last three letters of my name. On Instagram, “Moyy” was the only available username, and it just stuck; it became my identity everywhere. Eventually, I shaped it into Moyyco, which I like to think of as “Moyy curiously observes,” reflecting my constant curiosity and the way I explore ideas, objects, and the world through my work.
Was there an early project or moment when you thought, “Okay, this could actually be something bigger than just a hobby”?
I think it was when I got the KFC project and received a huge amount of appreciation after the launch. That’s when I realised I could aim for something bigger. By bigger, I mean creating more good work, contributing to the creative community, and doing work that genuinely makes me happy.
