Sagar Prindavankar is a fine artist by trade and an art connoisseur by passion on a quest to become a concept artist.

He was only a child when he won first place in a drawing competition, his first accomplishment as an artist. That was the day he realised what path he wanted to take with his life.

Sagar’s first foray into art as a fine artist was with pencils, but after a formal education in art, his doors opened to the world of digital art He now works with a variety of mediums and the Wacom Cintiq to bring his art to life. Having done many landscapes and realistic portraits on paper, canvas, and digital, he has realised that the fundamentals of art are the same, just the mediums of expression differ.

He enjoys experimenting with light and shadows in his work, and he creates conceptual artwork inspired by nature. His first drawing was on pollution control and nature-related topics are his biggest source of inspiration even today. In his paintings, he effectively balances light and shadow drama with subtle realistic touches

However, he didn’t go looking for his personal style but believes that an artist’s style emerges naturally over time, sometimes a push is required to create it but it all comes naturally.

His formula for creating narratives for his paintings as a concept artist is simple; first understand the story, then take some references for it, followed by some rough drawings, compositions, line art, and finally colour the artwork. It is critical to remember that the story is the main character.

The single most important piece of advice he would give to younger artists, just before starting out in their art careers is to do their study first. More drawing, more study, and more practice is the key to success.
