Q

In a fast-moving industry, there’s often pressure to arrive at answers quickly. PMD’s work feels more measured and rooted in clarity. How would you describe your design philosophy and the way you approach thinking before execution?

A

The PMD approach consists of two main elements; first, analysing the market and the product’s peripherals using the 5 Ps, and Second is to develope a design strategy and execution that not only makes the product stand out but is also visually compelling for the targeted space.

Q

When a new project begins, what does your process look like, and do you see your role more as solving a brief or reframing it? How often do clients come in with the right problem?

A

For larger projects, we prefer to collaborate with the client to refine the narrative. Instead of creating a completely new draft on our own, we work together to develop it. Even if the new draft is significantly different from the previous one, we ensure that both our insights and the client’s input shape the final screenplay. This approach helps us establish a strong foundation before moving on to the execution phase.

Q

We last featured you in 2018. Looking at PMD today, how has the studio evolved, not just in terms of your thinking and process, but also in how you engage with clients and approach new projects?

A

Back in 2018, we were a design studio that you might refer to as “one of the design studios.” In recent years, particularly as the world has been recovering from COVID-19, we have focused on defining ourselves through two main aspects:

1. Speciality in Our Solutions

  • Design-Centric

  • Art-Centric

  • Narrative-Centric

2. Collaborative Approaches

  • Space Design

  • Complex Web Solutions c) Production R&D
