Apoorva Nirala

Apoorva Nirala is a Communication Design-Animation Film Design graduate from Symbiosis Institute of Design.

• Background Study - Grave of the Fireflies 

Apoorva chose one of her favourite scenes from the Ghibli Studio film Grave of the Fireflies, directed by Isao Takahata. To understand the mood and theme of the shot, she recreated the shot and experimented with the lights and colours to try out different moods on the same background. 

• Samurai Jack Animation 

In this animation project, an iconic 90s-character Samurai Jack and their walk cycle was brought to life with a chosen music piece. His walk cycle and smooth transition to the next character were animated in sync with the music. The character’s key poses were roughly animated, and shapes, line work, and colours were finalised. Props from the character’s world were created to enhance the walk cycle transition. 

• Comic Recreation - Kamisama Hajimemashita

In this fun project, one of her favourite comics/ manga, Kamisama Hajimemashita or Kamisama Kiss by Julietta Suzuki, was re-created in her own unique style. A beloved scene from the manga was carefully chosen and brought to life with her creative touch and personal flair.
