Freedom of Expression in Art!
Rewinding the Story
Jithin Puthenpurakkal has been interested in art ever since he can remember. Any sketchbook he had, not a page was left blank, there were the brightest colours everywhere. Even as a professional artist today, his artworks are filled with beautiful bright colours that are a visual treat. He believes that colours can evoke emotions, and I always want the viewer to feel good when looking at his artworks. He believes that the right colours exude happiness, which is exactly what he wants to convey through his work. Stylised, strong and vibrant.
The Life in Nature
Jithin had a wonderful childhood. Born and raised in a village in Keraala, he spent his childhood exploring nature. He remembers his lovely village landscape, which was covered in green paddy and lotuses. It is this beauty of nature that inspires him.
A-Z of His Process
When asked about his process, he says that he begins sketching as soon as a thought or idea enters his mind. He does refer to bringing clarity to his thoughts and beginning to paint. As the painting progresses, he tinkers with the shapes to improve the composition and colours to heighten the mood. The final stage is detailing and colour correction.
Art that Brings Joy
Jithin believes that the purpose of art, whether beautiful or not, is to be enjoyed. Aside from the message, he hopes that the viewer enjoys his paintings and connects with the environment. Jithin has over 12 years of experience in the art industry and is constantly surprised by the wide range of opportunities available to artists. He is always proud of how he has improved as a selftaught artist over the years, and he is proud that his artworks are celebrated and loved. “For me”, he says, “artistic freedom means having complete freedom of expression”.
