Any medium you can think of, she has mastered it! Rae Zachariah, a multidisciplinary illustrator and animator, discusses the power of various modes of expression in her artistic output.

Rae Zachariah is a storyteller of multiple mediums. Her creative practice has been a meandering road, making pit stops in varied fields. She believes that if you have something interesting to say, there will always be a medium out there.

Her artworks are very expressive and show emotions without actually showing the facial features of the subjects, a very distinctive style. This expression in her work first came from colours before evolving with more layers like character movement, composition, texture. She doesn’t believe she consciously landed on this style of characters without facial features, instead simply built her way up to expressing emotions through other elements. Personal style is a tough cookie to crack but Rae doesn’t believe she has found it yet as it’s ever evolving. She says, “ Maybe someday I’ll be conveying emotions through expressive faces”.
