Telling Stories Through Fashion!

Intricate embroideries, unique textures and distinctive prints, that’s the world of Anoop Barwa. He is a fashion illustrator with the spirit of a storyteller, here to share all his stories through his work.

Creative Gaga, Anoop Barwa

Anoop Barwa is a fashion illustrator with an eye for detail. Authentic Indian embroideries, colours, and textiles inspire him, and he aspires his illustrations to tell the garment’s story. His illustrations begin with a close examination of the garment that inspired him. This results in a sketch, which is then coloured and detailed. He always makes certain that he does the garment and the designer’s work justice.

With fashion photography taking over, hand drawn illustrations are now more commonly used for technical purposes. Anoop transports us to before the 1930s, a time before fashion photography, when designers would hire artists to illustrate their clothes for fashion magazines. Now, it is used more to explain design concepts and preview the look and feel of the garment before construction.

In an age when fashion photography is the norm, hand drawn illustration retains an authentic charm that cannot be replicated.
